Buying jewellery online without trying it on is the one thing that stops people ordering. It should not. A ruler, a strip of paper and two minutes are enough to get your ring size right, and most bracelets and necklaces are adjustable anyway. Here is how to measure every piece we sell.
Five rules for an accurate ring measurement
Measure two or three times on different days and take the most common result.
Measure at the end of the day.
Fingers are at their largest in the evening and smallest first thing in the morning.
Measure warm.
Cold shrinks fingers by up to half a size. Never measure straight after being outside in winter or in a heavily air conditioned room.
Do not measure after salty food, alcohol or exercise.
All three cause temporary swelling.
Check the knuckle, not just the base.
If your knuckle is noticeably larger than the base of your finger, size for the knuckle. A ring that will not go on is worse than one slightly loose.
Size up for wide bands.
A band over 6mm wide sits against more of your finger and feels tighter. Add half a size for wide or heavily set designs.

What if you are between two sizes?
Go up, not down, in these cases:
- Your knuckle is larger than the base of your finger
- The band is wide, over 6mm
- You are buying for the dominant hand
- You live somewhere hot, where fingers swell
Go down when the design is a fine band under 3mm and the ring is for a hand that stays cool. If in doubt, choose the larger size. A ring that spins slightly can be sized down; a ring that will not pass the knuckle cannot be worn at all.

We always have that one ring that fits perfectly, it’s never too loose neither too tight; it fits just right. Well, that could be any ring if the size is measured accurately.
Step 1: Take a string
Step 2: Measure the ring end-to-end
Step 3: Unroll the paper strip and measure with a ruler from the edge to the pen mark. This is your finger’s circumference
Step 4: Use the table below to see your ring size, if it falls in the middle of two sizes, pick the larger one

Step 1: Take a strip of paper
Step 2: Wrap this around your finger tightly, mark with a pen where the paper meets
Step 3: Put it on a ruler and you now have the internal diameter of your ring
Step 4: Use the table below to see your ring size, if it falls in the middle of two sizes, pick the larger one

Some General Tips Before Measuring Your Ring Size
- Measure your fingers at the end of the day when they are at their largest
- Cold weather can shrink your fingers up to half a size, so make sure they are warm
- Avoid measuring your fingers after eating salty food as they tend to swell after
Bracelet sizing
Measure your Wrist
Most of our bracelets have adjustable links at 16cm, 17cm and 18cm, so a single piece covers a range of wrists. To check which setting you need:
- Wrap a tape measure or a strip of paper around your wrist, just below the wrist bone, where the bracelet will sit.
- Note the measurement in centimetres. This is your wrist size, not your bracelet size.
- Add an allowance for comfort using the table below.
Bangle sizing
A bangle does not open, so it has to clear your knuckles. Measuring your wrist will give you the wrong answer.
- Bring your thumb across to touch your little finger, as if you were putting on a bangle.
- Wrap a tape measure around the widest part of your hand in that position, across the knuckles including the tucked thumb.
- Note the circumference in centimetres. Your bangle needs an inside circumference slightly larger than this measurement.
Necklace and pendant lengths

Each of our products chain length is mentioned in the details section. For certain necklaces you can adjust the length to your preference with a simple and easy to use adjustable ball. The adjacent image gives a basic idea of where the necklace will fall for most people based on length.
Chain length is listed in the product details for every piece. Many of our necklaces also include an adjustable ball mechanism, so you can shorten the chain yourself without a visit to a jeweller.
Choosing a necklace length for a neckline
- V neck: 18 to 20 inches, following the line of the neckline
- Crew or high neck: 16 inches to sit above the fabric, or 30 inches and longer to sit well below it
- Boat or off shoulder: 14 to 16 inches, so the collarbone stays the focus
- Strapless: 18 to 24 inches
- Turtleneck: 30 inches and longer
Layering necklaces
Leave at least 5cm between each piece so the chains sit apart rather than tangling. The most reliable combination is 16, 18 and 20 inches worn together, with the smallest pendant on the shortest chain.
If the size is still wrong
- Exchanges: rings and bangles can be exchanged for a different size of the same piece within 15 days of purchase.
- Returns: eligible in stock and backorder pieces can be returned within 15 days for a full refund, provided the original tags and packaging are intact.
- Made to order, customised and engraved pieces cannot be resized or exchanged after the order is placed, so measure carefully before ordering these.
